Research Areas

Fluid-Structure Interaction

Immersed/embedded boundary methods, interface tracking, partitioned procedures, CFD.

Shock Waves and Cavitation

Cavitation-induced material modifications, implosion and explosion, shock wave lithotripsy.

Multiscale Material Modeling

Damage/fracture models, diffusive molecular dynamics, hydrogen diffusion and embrittlement.

Open positions: The lab has openings for one or two PhD students to start in Fall 2023, with full financial support in the form of graduate research assistantship (GRA). Students with a solid background in one or several of the following disciplines are strongly encouraged to apply: numerical analysis, computer programming, fluid dynamics, and structural mechanics.
